about

Constantine was the Roman Emperor who took the throne while in York in AD 306 and later converted to Christianity and effectively established the Roman Catholic Church. The cover of 'Yorkshire Through The Ages II' is a picture of a statue of Constantine situated in front of York Minster.

lyrics

Constantine (Music and Lyrics Tim Hunter © 2020)

There were so many things
That he needed to fix
When he became the emperor
In York in AD 306

He was losing control
And wanted solutions
Like an end to persecutions
And a brand new state religion

Constantine
He Defined
The Bible that we all now read
And the Nicean Creed

The church was divided
Needing unity
He settled the date of Easter
He defined Christianity

He favoured the Christians
He changed history
Founded Constantinople
Creating a new great city

Constantine
He Defined
The Bible that we all now read
And the Nicean Creed
